Chiropractors/Chiropractor vs Massage Therapy

Question
I am a 39 yr old female in pretty good shape. No recordable health problems.  I have however had this knot (best described feeling) in the middle of my back for 2 months. I believe it developed due to my sleeping position.  I sleep in my side in a fetal position. I do not sleep on my back but when I wake up on my back, my back hurts. My husband has tried to nead the knot out and I've tried to stretch doing different moves. It's still there.  I've never been to a chiropractor or a massage therapist so I'm not sure which one could help me in this situation. I never crack my back in any way.  Could you point me in the right direction?  Thank you.

Answer
Hello Sherree,

You may want to see a doctor of chiropractic, they specialize in the biomechanics of the spine and all joints of the body.  You may want to find a chiropractor who specializes in soft tissue/ sports injuries as they will be able to assess the myofascial adhesions (knots)with greater care.

Hope all goes well,
Dr. Brendon O'Brien D.C.
