Question
I injured myself in yoga class at the end of April.  It started out feeling like a pulled muscle in my Right buttocks.  Then I started having pin in my right calf.  I now have lumbar pain.  The orthopedic doctors feel I have L5 radiculopathy.  I have been to two physical therapists (The first treated my r buttocks and calf the second treated my lumbar spine.) My MRI shows a slight bulging disc. Myelogram was normal.   I am waitng the results of my EMG/NCV. Throughout the the last few months I have been on NSAIDS, medrol pack, Darvocet and Vicodin. I have an appotintmet with a neurosurgeon on November 19.  The Physcial therapist wants me to see a chronic pain doctor and an accupuncturist.  I've had many people tell me to see a chiropractor.  I'm confused.  Where should I go next?

Answer
Hello Denise,

I would see a Doctor of Chiropractic, we are the biomechanical experts of the spine and whole body.  Also Chiropractor are the only doctors who are licensed to adjust the body!  Depending on the size of the bulge and where it is located, chiropractic can help.  It is important to work with both doctors (Nuero and chiro) to recieve the best treatment and evaluation of your condition.

Hope everything turns out great!
