Question
My 15 yr old son recently had an MRI, due to his lower back pain with some minor numbness in left leg. The MRI indicates some minor bulging in a disc as well as narrowing in spinal canal. His doctor is recomending we see a surgeon. My son is an athlete playing soccer and track. Will this condidtion end his athletic career ?

Answer
It may.  But, you may want to check with a chiropractor that does traction, or decompression therapy.  Studies have been done that show that 89 of the population has a bulging disc.  It may be nothing.  The stenosis is more worrisome, but, decompression therapy may be a way to help without surgery
