Chiropractors/Frequency of Visits

Question
I am 23 in pretty good health, but through working and traveling I have some lower back pain.  I went to an evaluation at the chiropractor and don't have anything serious, but my lower spine has a 47% curve instead of the desired 60%.  She has recommended 3 visits a week for 3 months and 2 visits a week for 2 months after that.  This seems like an awful lot for me, and my shedule and finances would make that very difficult.  If I go fewer time a week, is that going to seriously impair the results, or will it just take longer to get to the same point?

I've never had any adjustments, just wanted to get another doctor's advice.

Answer
Dear Chris,

Thank you for bouncing this experience off me.  The chiropractor you consulted should be ashamed of him or herself for making this ridiculous treatment recommendation.  It is no wonder that chiropractors are viewed by the public with skepticism.  I would advise you to seek another chiropractor's opinion on how to deal with your back pain.  A reasonable initial trial of care (e.g. for two or three weeks), along with some self-help tips and exercise recommendations may be all you need to get your problem under control.
