Chiropractors/Hip Pain

Question
I have had hip pain for about 2 years now.  It started when I was jumping rope one day.  I've tried a massage therapist but the relief is only temperary.  Otherwise I've take anti-inflamatories.  Any advise?  Thank you.  Vickie

Hi Vickie,

Without an examination to determine an actual hip problem from a referred pain issue, it is hard to advise treatment options. I recommend you have it worked-up to rule out a disc or other pathology. If it ends up being localized to the hip, there are many contributing factors that can perpetuate an ongoing problem. This includes but not limited to short leg, osteoarthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, greater trochanteritis and many other possibilities that cause chronic pain. A good start would be an orthopedic exam and x-ray/MRI if needed. Without more information, it would be reckless to advise further.
