Chiropractors/Hurts to lay flat

Question
For as long as I can remember, it's been uncomfortable and often painful, to lay flat on my back.  It's the lower part that hurts and I if I do end up on my back, it takes me a while to be able to roll over on my side to relieve the pain.  Do you have any idea what would cause this?  Like I said, this has been the case since I was a kid and has persisted no matter my age, weight, or fitness level.

Answer
Dear Catherine,

I'd like to answer your question accurately, but it is difficult to do since I don't have a lot of information about you.  Nevertheless, there are some arthritic conditions that can be painful (I don't know how old you are).  Also, with a lot of postural strain on your spine, you can become chronically sore, such that lying on your back can hurt as you attempt to let your body relax. Have you had any X-rays, blood tests, treatments of any sorts such as chiropractic, physical therapy or massage?
