Chiropractors/Karate and protruding disk

Question
I have recently starting practicing karate but also recently discovered that I have a protruding disk (L5 S1) and my annulus fibrosis is torn.  Is it a good idea to STOP practicing karate?

Answer
Hello Denise,

Depending if it is a new or old tear.  With a new prolapse of the disc you will want to stop and take time to let the disc heal.  Further aggravation could lead to nerve impingement and worse.

Have a great day,
