Question
Can chiropractic care effectively treat Meniere's Disease?  Are there testimonies
of such cases?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Holly,

I'm sorry, but I have not seen any evidence that Meniere's can be treated with chiropractic methods.  Some of the secondary neck or head pain caused by neck muscles or irritated neck joints can be alleviated, but the primary condition of Meniere's cannot.  I've heard of anecdotal reports of patients getting relief, but again, I think it's relief of secondary symptoms.  It's best to have Meniere's diagnosed to be sure it's not an inner ear tumor or aneurysm causing the vertigo, and also to be sure you really do have Meniere's and not the simple BPPV (benign paroxysmal, positional vertigo) which is easy to treat with head-position exercises.  A vestibular specialist is the doctor to see.
