AnswerCaron,
First, get a thorough musculoskeletal exam by a chiropractor to determine if your pain has any mechanical basis, or if it is possibly soft tissue related, e.g. myofascitis. If it is, and you are safe to treat, you may find some relief. If not, then the DC may refer you back to your PCP or a different specialist (such as a physiatrist or interventional pain management specialist) for further evaluation. The musculoskeltal examination, if thorough, should be able to determine if your neck is causing referred pain into the scapula, or if you have a shoulder tear, or if your pain may be from internal organ disease.
'Sorry you're in such a bad way. I hope you get some help and relief.
