Answer
Mary,

Not knowing any more than what you've told me, it is likely that you have lumbar nerve irritation, or sciatica.  Just go to a chiropractor or an orthopedist and get it examined.  Examination would better determine if you have overt nerve compression from a disc or bone, or irritation from an inflammed disc, or if you have something else.  Some people get leg symptoms with hip joint problems.  Data gathered from your medical history and physical examination would better determine what your diagnosis is.
