Question
Hello I have periodically had tingling in my wrists duting sleep and upon waking and several months ago when working in construction working with a heavy scraping tool hit an solid object which impacted with great pain on my wrist. Although the pain subsided momentarily I have often had annoying pain in that wrist from the slightest use. I need my wrist to be pain free so I can work effeciently. Any advice would be greattly appreciated. Thank you

Answer
Bob,

I would greatly advise getting an MRI of your wrist to rule out any fracture.  Also, following single traumas or with repetitive traumas, you are vulnerable to a condition called avascular necrosis, where the blood supply to a (particular) wrist bone gets disrupted and the bone dies off.  This particular condition is also known as Keinbock's disease.  MRI will rule these conditions out and give you better information as to whether you have damage or not.  Without ruling out these problems, it is not possible to make treatment recommendations.  If you have a negative MRI, then go see a chiropractor that has a lot of experience with extremity problems, and one that is certified in Graston Technique (www.grastontechnique.com).  If the MRI is positive, then you surely will need to see an orthopedic hand specialist first.

'Hope this helps.
