Question
Hello,

I recently injured myself in training for Mixed Martial Arts. I'm a professional fighter new in my career and proper healing is very important to me. My injury occured when I forcefully driven into the grappling mats on my left shoulder. My left shoulder is sore, but the real pain is near my right pec area, and feels a little bit like I cracked or separated something. I couldn't sleep all night, and I also feel it worse in different positions. The pain starts at about 2 inches below my collar bone.

Any help on the healing process would be appreciated.

Answer
First, I would like to apologize for my tardiness in answering.  There was a death in our family and I have been away from the computer.  It sounds as if there is a compression injury near the sternum, possibly involving the ribs.  If you haven't had an xray, see your family doctor or a chiropractor for that.  Then, if you chose to seek a chiropractor, he should be able to determine whether there is misalignment causing your pain, and should also be able to address your soft tissue issues.
