Question
Hi!  I have had some problems with my left shoulder for the past several months.  I am concerned as I am left handed in everything I do.  I often wake up with it aching & hurting.  I notice just in normal movement, it makes a popping sound.  Sometimes, it'll 'crack' -- like when you crack your knuckles.  The level of pain fluctuates depending on the activity & the time I spend on it.  I have had it bother me for days.  I am unsure if I should see a medical dr. or a chiropractor.  I am limited on finances so need to take the best route possible.  Thank you for your assistance!

Answer
Hello Mel,

You may want to check out your insurance coverage on each doctor.  If you have no insurance a doctor of chiropractic is usually less expensive and specialize in joint biomechanics of the body!  This is a good place to start for you.  The doctor will be able to determine if you need a MRI of the shoulder or not.

Thank you for the question,
