Question
I have a herniated disc [l5 s1][i think]..have had terrible pain down right leg and back. I am now going for epidurals, and p/t. what can I expect from them? wont they just help with the pain? the dr. says surgery is the answer.have had condition for over 7 weeks now[its getting worse] thanx for any info.  steve

Hello Steve,

   Epidurals will help with inflamation and pain, usually last about 1-3 months.  Epidural will not solve the problem but helps you deal with the pain.  You may want to have at least three different surgeons (from different clinics) look at your case. Doctors of chiropractic usually take the conservative route and will let you know if chiropractic can help or if you have to have surgery, so you may want to see one for an exam, just to get another opinion!
