Question
my 14 yr old daughter is a fastball pitcher. she practiced all winter at a pitching clinic, then in june after a ball tournament that she pitched several innings she developed muscle spasms three days later.her dr. perscribed muscle relaxing meds.4 weeks later she had to stop pitching during a game due to the pain, so we had her xrayed. the results were scoliosis, not sure which vertebrae but one was 14% and one was 19%. her dr wants her xrayed every couple of months to keep eye on things.since then shes been taken to the emergency dept. because she had such a bad spasm she couldnt breath and was given some very strong meds. is there anything that can be done to strengthen her back for sports or is she sitting on the sidelines.she is 5ft7in and weighs 120lbs.

Answer
Hi Janice,

Find another doctor, when scoliosis is detected, you don't "sit" around and wait to do another x-ray. Aggressive exercises are needed to minimize the scoliosis and restore it so that there is minimal angulation. Find a good DC that specializes in this, low volt muscle stim will speed this up. Why wait and watch it become untreatable? This make no sense, the best time to treat this condition is while she is still growing!

Good Luck!
