Chiropractors/back rib pain

Question
I am 63, have been a dancer all my life and have worn a back brace since I was 19.  As long as I keep active I have been good.  About 2 months ago (after walking different due to knee problems) I had pain in neck, back of head and then rib cage on right side which sometimes the pain travels to the front of rib cage under breast. In past I have had chirop. and PT folks to help.  I have been seeing Chiro for two months now and have had two similar episodes this week.  The pain is escruciating and the car and brace seem to make it worse.  It is as if I was being cut open from the spine across the right mid back.  I have pushed on the rib and had pain and sometimes relief.  I do not know where to turn at this point.

Answer
Dear Lola,

I am not sure that there is a question here.  I understand your recurring circumstance as well as the pain you are now experiencing.  Can you tell me more about what has worked for you in the past, specific to treatment given by the Chiro and PT?  Also the chiropractor you are seeing now, have they given you a diagnosis, any x-ray results, or exercises for home care?

Also, are you still having the neck and head pain, or is it just the rib and chest pain that is now problematic?  Please send me some more information, let me know what your specific questions are, and I will get back to ASAP.

Respectfully,
Dr. J. Shawn Leatherman
