Chiropractors/sore rib area

Question
Over the past year my mid rib area on my left side aches and is sore to touch.  I go to a chiropracter about 6 times a year or as needed.  My physician wants to do a chest x'ray but I'm not sure that is neccessary.  It feels like I pulled something.  The condition gets sorer when I lift weights.  What do you think is the best way to go to relieve the pain and start the healing process?

Answer
Hello,

You may want to have a exam by your chiropractor to determine if you need x-rays or not.  50% of the time a rib fracture can not be seen on x-ray!  Often the intercostal muscles can be strained from lifting weights, adjustments and soft tissue work will relieve this condition.

Have a great day,
