Question
for chronic upper back pain, what would the "standard" settings on a tens unit be for the following:
pulse width (40-260)
pulse rate (2-120)
thanks

Answer
Petrina,

I do not utilize TENS therapy in my practice, and therefore am not able to advise you about settings for electrotherapy use.

If a TENS unit has been dispensed to you by a qualified health care professional, you should obtain information regarding its proper usage from that professional.

Additionally, as far as I am aware, the current scientific literature does not support the use of electrical stimulation such as TENS for chronic spinal pain. For that reason, I do not use electrical therapies in my practice.
Thank you for your question.
