Chiropractors/About tingling fingers...

Question
Hello,
Sometimes when I crack my neck my fingers start to tingle, almost like a numbing sensation. I wanted to know what this could be from, or if its something to be concerned about. Thank you.
Joe Shilling.

Answer
Joe,

This could be from the nerves in your neck being stretched or pressed on by one or several different structures, including a protruded disc, short/tight neck muscles in the front of your neck (the thoracic outlet), and even from obstructions such as a tumor in the very top of your lung.  You should get this checked out.  A thorough physical examination by a doctor, especially a doctor of chiropractic, familiar with these conditions is your best first step.  If you've been noticing these symptoms getting more frequent or worse with time, then you should get your examination asap.
