Choosing Alternative Therapies/Melatonin

Question
Hi Meg
Do you know much about this?
My shift work, coffee consumption, and sleep apnea (I am on a CPAP machine) and the fact I am getting old (55) means I have poor sleep.
This is supposed to help.
It is also apparently helpfull for other conditions including thyroid and PMS.
Your thoughts appreciated.

Answer
Hi Sue,

Melatonin will help a little bit. But the obstacles you're experiencing are significant.  Drop the coffee!!  You don't need caffeine on top of the shift work and the sleep apnea needs to be resolved. I hope the CPAP is doing the trick, but often needs adjustment.  Yes, melatonin supplements are good. Try ones that include some l-theanine and 5-HTP -- also natural compounds.
