Question
Hello Meg,     I have a diagnosis of schizo-affective disorder and anxiety, mild sleep disturbance and lots of chronic skin rashes, and a some other mild irritations, I am on limited income due to my disability yet I want to try working with a Naturopathic to help address my health issues. But I can't afford it, Here's my Q: Do I have to see a practitioner in order for these treatments to get optimal results? Or can I do all by myself?

Answer
I think it's a great idea to work with a naturopathic physician to help clear up these troublesome symptoms of sleeplessness and skin irritations. Some will offer you a sliding scale rate which should help your budget.  I know it's tough. I wish that more insurance companies would reimburse for naturopathic services. I'm a strong advocate for that since they often help clear up problems at their root cause, eliminating the need for further management--and that brings untold savings to people both financially and physically and emotionally.  Try contacting the Association of Naturopathic Physicians at www.naturopathic.org.  Ask them for a referral in your area, and explain your situation. It's a great group!  Good luck, Meg
