Choosing the Right College/Archaeology

Question
I am a junior in high school and wish to study archaeology in college, and pursue it as a career. I want to go to a good school with a good archaeology program, specializing in Egyptology or Near Eastern archaeology (not American.) What are some of the best schools I should look into?

Answer
This site run by the Smithsonian is excellent:

http://www.sil.si.edu/SILPublications/Anthropology-K12/anth-k12.htm

It contains this page:
http://www.sil.si.edu/SILPublications/Anthropology-K12/anth-k12.htm

Which leads you to this guide:
http://www.museum.state.il.us/ismdepts/anthro/dlcfaq.html

The guide talks about colleges and universities.

Good luck!

I'd like to recommend a book - it's thick, but very interesting, titled The Source by James Michener.  Published in the 1960s, it is a historical fiction about an archaeological dig at a ruin in Israel.  Fascinating, and gives a wonderful glimpse into field archaeology.
