Choosing the Right College/years-abroad

QuestionHello,
I am an international student from Jordan currently in my first year of undergraduate study at the University of Toronto(study of religion).I am seriously considering transferring to Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania next year. However,I have some doubts about making this move as I am not certain if it's the best thing to do.I was discussing this issue with my mom and she suggested that I go to Gettysburg College next year through the study abroad office of University of Toronto. And if I like it I can continue studying at Gettysburg for the following years(either by tranferring after the second year or by being an exchange student for 3 years). This way I would have the oppurtunity to try Gettysburg College for a year but at the same time it allows me to return to University of Toronto.1-is that feasible and do you have any advice?2-Will I pay the tuition fees of University of Toronto or Gettysburg college?3-Do I apply directly to Gettysburg College or the study abroad Office of U of T?
Thanks,
H.E
AnswerHashem,
Interesting question.
I believe the only way that you could go to Gettysburg for a year as an exchange student is if the U of Toronto already has some kind of exchange program in place with GC. If such an agreement exists, it would likely be for a year and would allow you to pay UT costs for the year at GC. Such agreements, when they do exist, usually do not offer that opportunity for more than one school year. To remain at GC after, you would have to be an enrolled student and would be subject to GC fees.
I would first go to the study abroad office at UT and see if they have anything in place that would allow you to study at Gettysburg for a year. If not, you might then want to contact GC and see if such arrangements can be set up. I would contact the GC international student advisor or academic dean's office to start that conversation.
Best wishes.
