Question
QUESTION: Hi,
My daughter is a sophomore .She is interested in doing corporate law after undergraduate.
Since i did not study here,i am not sure how to guide her with course selections for her junior year that will help her with going to business school(Stern's NYU) for undergraduate and continue on with law .
Currently she is signing up for Language Arts-AP,Math Pre calculus Hons,American history (hons) Physics (hons).
I will appreciate any help that you can give,
Thank you.

ANSWER: I think the classes she is scheduled to take look very appropriate for a junior year.  She should probably be taking a foreign language also.  She needs to work hard and make the best grades possible, take the SAT and ACT her junior year, and pursue an activity or two where she can show some real leadership.  She also needs to take challenging courses as a senior and retake the SAT and ACT.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Thank you so much for your advice.
I have one additional question,is it important to take ACT.It is helpful for under graduation or later when she applies to Law.
I forgot to mention, she is in Spanish advanced (hons)and American hist (AP).
What subject SAT IIs should she take?
Thanks once again for your time and help.

Answer
I usually suggest students take both the SAT and ACT because they are both college admission tests and every college will accept the scores that are the highest on either one.  She should take the math subject test and maybe the Spanish or American history.  You can go to the library and get some subject test books so she can practice and see how well she does on different tests.
