Question
My son is a HS junior and plays volleyball for a private athletic association and he is a starting player.
I'd like to know if it is worth applying to a school with a division I team ie how well does he have to play?
PS : we live outside the states

Answer
Maria,

This is a tough question to answer because I do not know the level of skill your son possesses.

D-1 programs are typically stronger athletically than D-2 and D-3, but finding the right "match" has a lot to do with researching the various institutions and determining just what the coaches are looking for in the next recruiting cycle.

If your son has passion to play at the college level, I would say YES. it is absolutely worth it to apply!

Obviously, being an international student has it's hurdles to cross as well... Another conversation for another time!
