Question
I AM LOOKING TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL WITH DREAMS OF BECOMING A Child Psychologist. I GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL MANY YEARS AGO BUT I HAVE NEVER ATTENDED COLLEGE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS THE BEST ONLINE COLLEGE THAT I COULD COMPLETE THE COURSES THAT ARE REQUIRED.  ALSO WHAT IS THE AVERAGE AMOUNT OF YEARS TO COMPLETE THE ENTIRE PROGRAM?

Answer
Cher,

As far as online programs go, I can suggest some, but if there is a state school (that is, in your state) that has programs it is likely that that will be your best deal.

SUNY Learning Network (NY)
Western Governors University
Indiana Wesleyan
Liberty University
Penn State
University of Massachussettes
Edison State (NJ)
Fort Hayes State (KS)
Peru State (NE)

You may find it advisable to pick up some community college classes near you, and you should look into ClEP (via the college board web site) to see if you can get spome college credit for your life experience.

As you begin your study, try to discern how your want to 'do' child psychology. Do you wan to do private counselign, or school counseling, or school psychology, or work with neglected kids, etc. The path you select will have a big impact on the courses you pursue and how long you will be in school.

Hope this helps.

Bruce
