Choosing the Right College/Can I go to college?

Question
Hello, earlier this year I graduated from homeschool(i'm 17) and I honestly don't feel like i've learned anything useful. I've been looking at colleges, but everthing seems to go over my head. It feels like I have the education of an eighth grader. I'm not sure if you can help, but I was wondering if you knew of someway that I could still go to college? I really want to go but I don't feel anywhere near smart enough to do so. Please help, thank you

Answer
Hi Lorenzo,

I've worked with many homeschoolers over the years and most were very good students. Is there a particular reason you feel undereducated?

It seems to me that you might be well-served by starting at a local community college. Stay there for at least a couple semesters and take some good courses to get your feet wet with college work, check your study habits and explore some areas for further study.

At a community college, take classes at the 100 and 200 level, things like Psychology, history, political science, music or art appreciation, foreign language and literature. As you progress along you will learn alot about yourself and what areas you might like to study some more, and which ones you would like to never study again.

I'm glad to field more questions as they arise.
