Question
Hi. Im a senior in high school and plan to join the U.S Marine Reserve. I was wondering if medical school admissions would like that. Would being a U.S Marine help me alot in my admissions?

Answer
Pratik,

While I can't speak for any school on this, I think that time in any branch of the service is generally viewed very positively by an admission committee. The main thing for med school, though, will be grades and the MCAT score.

Have you considered ROTC and the possibility of completing one of the programs that would have the service pay for med school in exchange for several years of service?
