Question
Hi. Im a senior in high school and plan to join the U.S Marine Reserve. I was wondering if medical school admissions would like that. Would being a U.S Marine help me alot in my admissions?

Answer
More than likely you will gain a lot of discipline and leadership experience with the marines and these are qualities that are beneficial for every area of employment.  Medical schools are most interested in your academic record coming out of college.  They are not concerned with what you major in, but want to see science and math emphasized and strong grades in each.  They also look at essays and whether your have shown an interest in medical volunteer opportunities.
