Choosing the Right College/Guide me with the best college!!!

Question
Dearest Bruce,
I am from India and I have successfully completed my postgraduation with Masters of Fashion Management from The National Institute of Fashion Technology,India. The college is considered as the best for fashion and textile studies in the country. My course specializes in Marketing and Merchandising of apparels.
I passed out with good scores in May 2008.I got placed in a very prestigious firm which i was supposed to join after 3 months.Unfortunately after 3 months i was told that they don't have that vacancy anymore and till then i had lost out on all other job opportunities that my college was arranging through college placements.
To make things worse, recession hit the economy and since then i have not been able to find a job for myself. for the past one and a half year I have been giving interviews but have not been lucky even once.
you can imagine the state of mind that I am in right now and I have decided to give up this job hunt and look towards prestigious Ph.D. or research degrees abroad.
My interest lies in fashion and I am eager to apply for One year PG buying and merchandising course or 2 years and 3 months Ph.D. /research degree in the same field, both from the London College of Fashion.
other than the above I am thinking that I can also apply to reputed MBA colleges in London for a 1 year MBA.
Now considering the above what do you think would be more appropriate for me to persue?? Should I go for One year MBA or for the degrees in London College of fashion??
Should I invest 3 more years in research Ph.D. or take the short cut by doing another PG course in just one year from London college of fashion???
And also throw some light on my view of applying to MBA colleges as well.I am not at all interested in HR and Finance. And I don't have much information about prospective colleges where I can apply.
I am confused.
It would be great if you can guide me with my career issues.i have been for counseling but it hasn't helped me at all.
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Rachita
AnswerRachita,
I'm afraid I don't know enough about the fashion world or the colleges you mention to answer as an expert. What I suggest is to contact some people in the industry and see if they will meet with you for an informational interview, and ask them what they see happening in the industry over the next 3-4 years and what they would suggest. Most people are glad to share their expertise in a way such as this.
