Question QUESTION: I am trying to educate my children in the best way that I can and we are a military family who move about every 3 years. My children currently attend a private Christian school. They are going to be in the 4th and 6th grade next year. I would like to continue with Christian education which teach preferrably the ABeka curriculum. Its seems to be a very strong rigorous curriculum and my children understand it and are challenged. They work hard to make good grades. We are moving to the Kansas City area. Do you have any suggestions on Christian Schools in the area for both elementary and junior high. What about a high school? I appreciate any information you can provide
ANSWER: Hi Annette,
Kansas City Kansas or Mizz?

QUESTION: Hi Bruce,
Kansas City, KS. Also, I know my children are young, but I am trying to prepare them for college with a strong education in their younger years to prep them for a strong education in high school.
Thanks,
Annette
Answer It looks like there are many options; KC Christian, Northland, Westminster - I guess I would search based on where you are going to be living in the area. Local pastors can give you good insight. As one who worked with students from many Christian schools over the years I can confirm that there are some really good ones - and some really poor ones. Look to see the nature and variety of colleges the graduates attend, the average SAT/ACT scores, the options to pick up college credit while in HS, the educational backgrounds of the teachers, the variety of home churches sending students.
You may find that Christian schools do not adhere strictly to one particular curriculum, but rather mix and match - ABEKA for this, Saxon for that, etc. In my experience with home schoolers, this eclectic approach produced better students, for what it's worth.
I hope this helps. Wish I knew more about KC, but I'm here in the east. If you move to NJ/NY, I could be really helpful!!
