Question
Im 20 years old with a GED. This year in fall i am going to attend my local community college. I know I CAN get great grades if i put my mind to it. So say i maintain a GPA of 3.5 or greater. Can I then transfer to a good university to finish my 4 year degree? Then can I get into an even better college for my MBA?? ivy league maybe? I dropped out of high school because i never took it seriously and got bad grades and now am more mature and want to change. I want to get a job at a hedge fund as a trader

Answer
Vlad,

First, let me congratulate you on going back to school. Many students each year transfer from a community college to a 4 year college so that is no problem. What I would suggest is that you look right now at some colleges you might want to transfer to so that you understand what they might require for transfer purposes. Ask about the typical grades of students that transfer to that college from a 2 year college. Ask about class requirements in the major in which you have an interest.

In general terms, the better you do at the community college, the better 4 year college you will be able to get into. And doing well at the 4 year college will increase your chances of getting into a strong graduate program.

I hope that helps.
