Question
QUESTION: Hello,I am from Kentucky and i am trying to register with a local community technical college but i didn't qualify for the financial aid.Would you please help me find out any community technical college in USA that offer the lowest tuition? Thank you for your time and help.

ANSWER: Scott,

Your local public community college should be the lowest cost option you have.

Did you file the 2010-2011 year FAFSA earlier this year?

Is the school saying that your family does not show financial need/eligibility for aid?

QUESTION: Hi, thank you for your reply.
i did file 2010/11 fafsa and i didnt qualify because my EFC was higher.

ANSWER: This makes things trickier. Because 2 year schools are (generally) inexpensive, it doesn't take a super high EFC to render one ineligible for aid.  Are you a dependent student?

Have you spoken with the aid office at the school about various options?

QUESTION: Hi, thank you for your relp, i am an independent student, i have spoken with my aid office and they told me that i can get a student loan, but that wasnt the option i was looking for.

Answer
It doesn't take too much income to push an independent student out of grant eligibility, as you have learned.

Perhaps you can set up some type of payment plan, or obtain employment that will provide enough income or a tuition benefit to help you out with tuition.

Best wishes.
