Choosing the Right College/Accreditation

Question
Thanks for the info.  It is helpful.  Can you tell me what I should look for as far as accreditation?  I have heard of "The Higher Learning Commission" the "North Central Association of Colleges and Schools".  Are there any other organizations recognized such as these?

Thanks.

Hi Susie,

I am thinking of earning my degree through an online program.  Before I sign up I wanted to make sure that the accreditation is valid.  What do employers look for when looking at the schools accreditation?  What should I look for?

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of bogus online degree programs that you need to watch out for.  While it is one way to get a degree, I still think having the college experience in a classroom setting gives you a much more involved feeling and also helps to keep you stimulated.  I would check very carefully as to the accreditation because you want to have a valid and respected degree after all that work.  Employers probably don't know too much about online degree programs, so they might not give it the respect it deserves.  That is something you need to think about.

Answer
A good place to start would be the website www.elearners.com/colleges.  There are quite a few recognized colleges and universities that offer online courses as well as schools that only offer online education.  Most list where a college is accredited.
