Choosing the Right College/Choosing a college

Question
Jake,

My son is considering a career as a television or movie director.  He has made a number of videos that his high school teachers have highly praised.   How does one go about selecting an appropriate college in this area?  Being a technical guy, it is easy for me to select colleges with a strong science or engineering basis, but this area is unfamiliar territory.  We live in South Carolina and would be more interested in schools in this neck of the woods.

Thanks in advance

Barry Smith

Answer
Barry,
I don't know much in that area either.  I do know that the University of Southern California has an exceptional film program and is one of the best in the nation.  Also, I know that the University of Texas film school is gathering attention as well.  As for colleges closer to you, I'm not sure.  You can do an advanced search by majors at www.review.com.  However, it's difficult to know how strong their program is.  I would suggest looking at the first two schools, for they are quite competitive and are well-known in that area.  I'm sorry that I cannot be of more assistance.  If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.  Good luck.
