Choosing the Right College/Christian engineering colleges and rankings
Expert: Bruce - 8/23/2007
QuestionI'm currently looking at Christian colleges for an aerospace engineering degree(B.S.) and couldn't find any Christian colleges that offer that (other than a 3-2 program) is there a ranking system for christian colleges that would help me chose a college that will help me to compete in a secular work enviorment?
AnswerHi Ethan,
I am pretty familiar with the Christian colleges.
You are correct that aerospace eng will be tough to find at a Christian school. You may find it via a 3-2 program, or you could consider getting your BS in math and physics at a Christian school and doing the aerospace through a grad program.
Either way, the food chain of Christian schools looks like this:
Wheaton College (occupies the top rung and has for a long time)
next tier: Gordon, Grove City, Westmont, Houghton, Calvin
Also very good: Seattle Pacific, Messiah, John Brown, Taylor, Azusa Pacific
of the schools above, I am most familiar with the east coast ones; Houghton, GCC, Messiah
That's one man's opinion, anyway. These are all fine schools. You may also want to take a look at Baylor University in TX. Large Baptist school which I believe still has a good Christian presence, and is large enough to maybe offer a bit more of what you are seeking.
Best wishes.
