Choosing the Right College/Credit Transfer

Question
Is it possible to transfer my credits from West Michigan University to UCLA after 2 years of studying at WMU? If it is possible, how do I do that? What are the procedures?

Answer
Hi Kate,

Most colleges welcome transfers, and transfer after 2 years is pretty commonly done. UCLA's policies will determine what GPA you need to transfer there and how many credits they will take. The University Web site should provide good info on that.

In general courses that show a C or better grade are fine. UCLA will not want you to take courses deep into the eventual major at WMU, they would rather you take those from them. With only 2 years at WMU that shouldn't be a problem.

To start the process, apply to UCLA. Their app will probably ask you if you are applying as a frosh or as a transfer, and will direct you accordingly.

Best wishes.
