Choosing the Right College/Credit Transfer

Question
Is it possible to transfer my credits from West Michigan University to UCLA after 2 years of studying at WMU? If it is possible, how do I do that? What are the procedures?

Answer
Kate,

The quick answer is that yes it is possible to transfer credits from one college to another. Whether all of the credits will transfer depends on the particular colleges involved. I would suggest that you contact UCLA and ask them what credits will transfer from your current college. Typically, standard classes that exist at each college will transfer. There may be some difficulties on specialized classes offered by WMU but not at UCLA but that shouldn't be much.

The procedure for transfer is very simple. You would need to apply to and be accepted at UCLA first. As part of that application you would need to submit an official transcript from WMU to UCLA. If you are then accepted, ULCA already knows what courses you have taken and what grades you have received. Assuming a passing grade in a course, UCLA will then determine how many credits you have already earned and apply those credits to your UCLA degree.

Good luck.
