Choosing the Right College/East Coast christian college - Engineering

QuestionMy son did very well on the SAT and has good grades and he is looking for an Engineering Degree (Architecture). He plays in the praise band, play and referees soccer. He's a senior this year. Any recommendations?
AnswerHi Wayne,
I've done some checking and, as I expected, have not really found a Christian college in the east offering anything like architecture. The only schools I could come up with that might work are Baylor University in Texas and Judson College in Ill (has bachelors and masters in the field).
The other option you might consider, if your son is likely to get a masters degree anyway, is to get a BS/BA in relevant disciplines (math, art, history, etc) and seek admission to a grad program. I think before doing so, you may want to call the admission office at an arch school and find what they would hope to see for graduate admission. If you were to consider that route, I'd suggest looking at Gordon, Houghton or Grove City here in the eastern US.
Many Christian colleges have 3-2 engineering programs that allow students to go to the Christian college for 3 years and then easily move on to the eng school for the last two and then receive two bachelors degrees. I looked around some, and I did not find any of these that list architecture as one of the engineering school possibilities. Its possible, though, that a dean at an undergrad college could and would do some legwork to set something like this up for a sharp student like your son.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have more questions.
