QuestionI am an international student from Thailand. I`m looking for a university that offers Ph.D. in the combination of multimedia technology, graphic design, and theater stage technology. I`ve tried searching on the internet, but couldn`t find any.
Thank you so very much for your help in advance.
AnswerDear Boyd,
You're entering into a most creative field, and a field which requires so many technical skills as well as pure artistic skills. When your doctorate is confered your skills will surely be in much demand. I'd be willing to guess that there aren't that many doctorates in the field, out there.
Having stated the above, however, let me also state that I don't know about any university which is preeminent in that field. Surely, however, it would be an excellent guess that one of the southern California universities offers a graduate program in multimedia technology, etc., leading to completion of the doctoral degree. That area is, of course, rife with such professional activity, to fulfill the needs of the cinematic and television industries.
One source for obtaining definitive information about courses of study offered by all universities and colleges is the reference department of a large public library. The research librarians in reference departments are well trained in finding pertinent information in any area of inquiry. They are there to help, and I certainly have used their skills many times. Many public libraries have a special section which contains information about all universities and colleges of top reputation in the country. For such research it would probably be best to go there in person and to spend two or three hours (or longer) to gather the information you need.
Boyd, I wish you the very best in your studies and in your future profession.
