Question
Hi,
I was wondering if you possibly know the answer to my question: Do you know if it really is harder to get into the University of Maryland each year? This is what I heard, and I was wondering if it is really true?

Answer
Claire,

I don't know specifics of U of M, but in general there has been a trend toward flagship state school becoming a bit more selective.

Most good state schools will be more selective if you are applying from out of state; you may also find that a place like U of M will have varyign degrees of selectivity actross schools (e.g. engineering could be more selective that arts or education - that kind of thing).
