Question
Hey, I'm thinking about college and I want to own my own bakery... so I was wondering about suggestions on schools. I have a 3.3(ish) gpa and have a few extra activities. I want to study culinary and business. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated, thanks!

Answer
I think if you can find a school that will offer the baking specific classes you need plus some study in business, you would be well-prepared to pursue your goals, the trick will be to find a curriculum flexible enough to allow you to do both.

I think your local community colleges would be a good startinbg point.

Also, I suggest you take a look at Paul Smith's College in New York State, and also Indiana University of Pennsylvania (near Pittsburgh). I believe that both of these would have the kinds of courses you need. Be sure to contact an admission person and ask specific questions about course offerings.

Sorry to say, I'm not real familiar with colleges outside the northeast that might have the culinary/business combo you are looking for.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
