Choosing the Right College/transfer on a budget

Question
I am a sophmore at a state school and I realized that my college decision was way too hasty. There is no diversity here (both black and white students seem to fit into steryotypes). Also, there is no real social or political activism. I can't afford a private school. Any suggestions for cheap schools in the NY tri-state area? (I am originally from NYC and don't want to move back in with my family).

Answer
Here are a few suggestions:  Trenton in NJ, Pittsburgh in PA, Fordham in NY( even though it's private, you can always apply for financial aid and be able to afford it.)
Washington and Jefferson in PA is also private but you could still give it a try.  You can always try to create your own social and political activism at the school you are presently attending and you may be surprised at how many others feel the same way.  Also do some checking on the internet for SUNY schools that may be more diverse.
You can always email the admissions office and ask for their statistics.
