Christian Music/looking for song and artist who sang it

I too have lost the name of the band that played this song although I have seen them in concert.  The drummer of the band played with a big name secular band before joining this band.  The band had an African American bass player and the lead singer was a white guy with long brown hair and a full beard.

A friend had their album and so they did release at least one.

There was a scandal in the Christian community when one of the band members admitted to being homo-sexual and this effectively ended their run.

This song goes back to the late 1970's because a trio at my Bible college sang it. There was a trio of two women and one man that made the song popular. It had to have been between 1976 - 1979

I used to play this at KPCG ( up the street from KOBC ) in 1976 an 1977.  I have been trying to find this for years.

The song was produced on an album by a Christian band called "The Hope of Glory".

Their  pianist, Tim Wade, was the lead of that song.  He did a beautiful job and I was always moved to tears when I heard it.
