Christianity -- Christian Living/Def. Old Covenant vs. New Covenant

Question
Many Christians use the terms Old Covenant and New Covenant. Yet when one ask them for a definition of each one usually receives a long rambling answer. So can you in 10 words or less state the Biblical definition of both and the difference?

Answer
Don't know if I can do it in 10 words or less, but I'll make it short.

The Old Covenant required man to fulfill the commandment (if you will do this, then I will do this), while the New Covenant is based on God's promise to fulfill (I will perform it) the full requirements of the covenant, through His Son Jesus Christ.

I hope this helps.

Expertise

I seek to help Christians in doctrinal matters. Many Christians think that doctrine doesn`t matter, yet the Scriptures indicate otherwise. It is my desire to share from the Word of God with those who have legitimate questions. As such, I cannot claim expertise, except that I will seek to answer from the Authority (the Bible). If I cannot find a Biblical answer, I may offer an opinion based upon my understanding of Scripture, or I will simply reply with an, "I Don`t Know".
