QUESTION: Hi, I don't know how to help my friend..she was a strong Christian but slowly got sucked into a backslidden statre when she fell in love with a guy..he disappeared and she was so worried she knowingly used a psychics help even though she knew this was forbidden. she was driven to do this because she was fearful over what had happened to him. She now believes God will never forigive her because she knew it was wrong and the power was not of god..Can she be forgiven? She feels helpless and even suicidal..

ANSWER: Greetings, in the name of Jesus,

We all stumble and fall at times, this is part of living,learning and growing, into the person God's wants us to become.,,which is become like Jesus. Tell her it's ok....God forgives seventy times seven.

But don't think this gives you a licence to sin, because it does not, God DOES have a limit. I can't forgive her, that's God's job thru His Holy Spirit. Tell her to repent (turn away from) of her sin.
Ask God to forgive her, and never do that sin again.

QUESTION: I think the struggle she has is the fact she knowingly used satan's power to find out details about this man. She knew the sciptures about not being involved in the occult in any way. She has prayed for forgiveness but does not feel forgiven and that God has closed the door on her because she turned to the dark side for help...I can't find any scriptures that say knowingly dabbling in the occult when a christian is an unforgivable sin, though King Saul ended up dying because he used a witch even though he had served the Lord and knew it was wrong...Do you know of any other Christian who commited this sin knowingly but has a testimony of redemption and forgiveness? I have pointed out that King David commited adultery and had his best friend murdered yet was forgiven..thanks 4 your help

ANSWER: King David was know as the man after God's own heart...David did a few things wrong in his walk with God...but, he is still saved.

As a matter of fact,I even dabbled in spells etc...before I became a born-again christian.

The unforgivable sin is to deny that God's Holy Spirit exists and works through each saved person.  Here's my testimony;

QUESTION: Hi, thanks for your help...You dabbled in spells BEFORE you were born again but she has had psychic readings while she is a Christian and worst of all-knew it was wrong so it is different...imagine if you went to see a psychic next week as a friend had gone missing and you wanted to know they are ok...you knew its wrong, an abomination, but the anxiety led you to a psychic to try to find out if they were ok..even though you know its satans power AND YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN..its a diffrent kettle of fish altogether...as people not saved who dabble in it don't know its wrong so are forgiven...can you see where I'm trying to get her answers..ty

This is why I said for her to sincerely REPENT of that sin, renouncing it, in the name of Jesus.  God looks upon ones heart, not the sin.

If she truly sincerely acknowledges the sin, and that it is not only sin against God, but also sin (as a child of the most high)against herself. and does not commit that sin again, obeying God from that point forward, then she is forgiven.
