Christianity -- Christian Living/Converting to Islam?

Question
Hi Kit
For many years I have had an interest in Islam. My wife spent some time in Saudi Arabia and she has nothiing but positive things to say about it.
My perseption of Islam has ranged from a negative reaction (terrorism, etc.) to one of admiration-I have found the modest conduct of the Moslems I know very appealing, especially in light of what I consider the deterioration of western culture-pornography, rap music, etc.
I have attended three major churches in my life. I was raised a Catholic but the issues of sexual abuse by priests, shutting woman out of the priesthood, and others, saw me become a Baptist.
That was fine until I found out many born agains dont practice what they preach-Bakker, Swaggert, etc. Many where I live seem intolerant to gays, immigrants, rock music,as well.
So, I became a 'moderate' Christian in the United church. However, they seem to support Palestine, God is a woman?, the bible is not real history.
However, Islam, with all its warts, seems to be consistant in its beliefs- i.e 'the five pillars'.
I am hoping you can answer some hypothetical questions questions from your Christian perspective?
1. If I become a moslem will I be denying Jesus? I have a guilt complex and fear of going to hell or missing the rapture.
2. Moslems give a good argument that Jesus was not the son of God but a great prophet. Where is is stated definately in the bible he is indeed the son of God?
3. Some of the Moslem stuff seems a bit far fetched too-Mohammed ascended to heaven on a horse, also the claims (the Satanic verses) that the Quran was written by Mohammed seem plausible.
Thanks for your thoughts?

Answer
Greetings, in the name of Jesus, Christ...

answers:

1. yes you would indeed be denying Jesus, if you were to become and then stay moslem
even at death, you would not get to heaven.

2.  Mat 8:29      And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Mat 26:63    But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

Mar 1:1    The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

Mar 5:7    And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, [thou] Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

Jhn 9:35    Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?

Jhn 11:4    When Jesus heard [that], he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

Jhn 13:31    Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

Jhn 20:31    But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Act 3:13    The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let [him] go.

2Cor 1:19    For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, [even] by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.

Hbr 4:14    Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast [our] profession.

1Jo 4:15    Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

1Jo 5:5    Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

1Jo 5:20    And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, [even] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

2Jo 1:3    Grace be with you, mercy, [and] peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

3. The only thing I can say, is that I agree with you about being bit far fetched, and to be honest with you I have never fully read the quran, just specific verses, but what you say about it with satanic verses should tell you in your heart, that this is not good. You do KNOW that
christ is most assuredly is not satan...I hope.

Hope this helps...

In His Service, and Love

Expertise

My main expertise is in Prophecy. I have a B.A. degree in Religion and Church Ministry from a school for Prophets, out of Jacksonville, Florida. I am also quite versed in the Bible as a whole. I am a non-denominational Christian, due to my belief that God never meant for different denominations... there is ONLY one religion (as the word of God says). I consider this to be an excellant way to witness the glory of God to others, and to further His Kingdom, and purposes...before the soon return of His Son, Jesus.
