QuestionWhat does The Holy Bible say about people who can speak to spirits and claim they are psychics?
People who say they believe there are true psychics and do seem to be, what do I say to bring them closer to God?
AnswerIsaiah:19, 20 below clearly states that there is one true God that men can enquire of; the other alternative source are evil spirits from mediums and spiritists.....
Isa 8:19-20
19 When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? 20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.
NIV
God's command is explicit and very clear regarding mediums and spiritists...
Deut 18:10-13
10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the Lord your God.
NIV
The penalty for a medium or spiritist is death in the Old Testament..
Lev 20:27
27 "'A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.'"
NIV
There are not many references referring to spiritists or mediums in the New Testament. If they do not repent, their penalty is a God ordained eternal death in the lake of fire....
Rev 21:8
8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars — their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
NIV
