Question
Why aren't they included in adams linage? chapter 5 Gen. If Cain was Adams child, he would be included, but he is not.

Answer
James,

Thank you for your question. Cain was Adam's firstborn son (See Genesis 4:1). Abel was also Adam's son (Gen. 4:2). Both are mentioned in chapter 4, verses 8-10 as brothers, by the Lord.. The lineage of Abel was not given, because he was murdered before he had any children. Cain's descendants are given in chapter 4:17-24 (For reference, he was the fore-father of the Moabites). The lineage of Seth was more extensive, because it followed forward to show the lineage of the Christ, the Messiah, the Lord Jesus.

It is very easy to build a doctrine based upon only one part of Scripture, but the Scriptures are clear, Cain, Able and Seth are all brothers, having Adam as their dad, and Eve as their mother, who was the "mother of all living".

Expertise

I seek to help Christians in doctrinal matters. Many Christians think that doctrine doesn`t matter, yet the Scriptures indicate otherwise. It is my desire to share from the Word of God with those who have legitimate questions. As such, I cannot claim expertise, except that I will seek to answer from the Authority (the Bible). If I cannot find a Biblical answer, I may offer an opinion based upon my understanding of Scripture, or I will simply reply with an, "I Don`t Know".
