Question
If there is no heaven or hell, then explain salvation to me? I believe he died to save our souls from going to hell.

Who said that there is no heaven or hell?
Many times in the Gospels, our Lord Jesus taught about heaven and hell,viz,

Matt 7:21

21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Luke 24:51-52
51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.

Luke 16:22-24
The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.

In the Apostle's teachings, we are also reminded that heaven and hell are very real..
2 Peter 2:4-5

4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment;

2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know — God knows.

There is only one sure way to escape the Judgement and Torment of eternal hell i.e.
repentance from your sins and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ...
Acts 2:38-39

38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Another word of caution..
Rev 20:12-15
Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Be forewarned. Death and Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire which is the eternal second death. There is a Heaven and there is a Hell and God has given us plenty of opportunities to make that ultimate choice.
